Lol I know. Seems like the RFS is a bit of a drag because 200 X 200 is 40,000 sq. feet.

It's the NJ Turnpike extension, or I-78 through Jersey City. It's one of the better views of lower Manhattan from the highway.

I know it's been 11 years now... And I honestly didn't think that would happen, but seeing the picture of the United plane with the WTC in the background made me sad and a little sick...

I know, I know. The planes that hit the twin towers on 9/11 originated from Boston, so that's different. But United 93 did originate out of Newark, after all. I'm honestly surprised how I felt by seeing that picture... It is a mighty lovely picture though!

Man, how times have changed. new buildings, new aircraft, and new airliner livery. Just think of how, nice it would look when the glass skin reaches the top.

Hi, I'm a newbie here but I don't expect to be on here all that much.

I recently saw 1 WTC when I was in NYC and it looked stunning (and this is coming from a former skeptic) but I find the antenna to be a slap in the face to the design of the building. Forgive me if I'm beating a dead horse here but I find it very surprising that David Childs/SOM hasn't done anything to remedy the spire design or that's at least how it appears. If I were the architect of a high-profile project like this and some sleazy real-estate organization intervened in my design for sake of saving $$$, I wouldn't compromise my design without a fight, I'd even sue if I had to. I don't what you guys think, but I'm under the impression that Childs has given up trying to work with Durst, but hopefully I'm proven wrong.

Just wondering, the newer base design (which I do like), was that designed by SOM or some other firm working with Durst? Because if Childs did design the new base, then a modified spire wouldn't be impossible at all. Like I said, it ruins the aesthetics of the building's design. Maybe they can do something similar to the BofA Tower's spire (another Durst property) which doesn't look half bad and is counted in the final height.

So I don't mean to rehash this spire discussion but I wanna know if anybody else gets the impression that Childs and SOM have caved into Durst. I just hope the Tall Building Council declares the spire as an antenna and hopefully that would send a message to Durst and give this building a chance to redeem itself.

Can anybody tell me what's your Favorite angle of 1 wtc, minds is from Broadway up to Vessy street when you see the three corners of the roof , with the triangular sides tapering upwards.
