MONTREAL | Louis-Bohème | 285 FT / 87 M | 28 FLOORS

The project has been announced about 18 months ago. Digging went on for long time (11 months from august '07 'til now) and the crane has been installed this week-end. Finally !!
Architects : Menkès, Schooner, Dagenais & Létourneux.
Corner of Bleury Street and boul. de Maisonneuve in the Quartier des Spectacles.

The other construction site on the left of this pic is the futur Place du Quartier des Spectacles, a new public square just in front of Place-des-Arts -the complex right next to it, all covered in colors for the 2008 28th edition of Montréal International Jazz Festival, starting on the 26th.

I can't imagine how this part of dt will look like this time next year. La Place du festival will be completed, the Louis-Boheme will be topped out, the old wilder building will be destroyed (and replaced with what???) and the bluenthal building will be renovated as the Jazz festival HQ! Oh and we'll maybe have that new 4 storey building on the spectrum?!

Agreed. Even though the first draw was already much more superior than anything planned for Montréal.

I find this building is kind of a mix of Northern (the tower) and Southern European architecture (the midrise section -- think Marseille, Valencia...). By far the best thing going up these days in Mtl.

That thing is huge. Also every time I pass by there are no less than 12 people who are just there looking down. Truly an event!

So its built 4-5 floors in what 10 months now?


BTW, this is now the tallest building U/C in Montreal....

Je suis passé devant aujourd'hui.

J'auras cru que ce soit lisse plutôt que granuleux et mat comme fini... on verra bien mais, pour l'instant, c'est un choc. J'ai confiance.
