It's not the city. It's a couple of neighbours holding things up with the threat of taking this to the OMB. I don't think the city has any objections to this building.

Same w/ the NEN (North End Neighbours) holding up the Bay St N & Strachan development over 'too much parking'. (I believe the variance there would allow for a whole 4 more vehicles.. Oooooooh!)

Good news. I'm looking forward to more people moving into the neighbourhood. This kind of intensification is needed to support the new businesses on James street.

Acclamation condos, Witton Lofts, and hopefully soon James & Vine condos could really give James St. N., and by extension, downtown, a huge boost!

Bookend that with the Vrancor projects and some needed help a little east, from Treble Hall ,Connaught and more businesses moving into the International Village, and I think we're on the verge of an accelareated renewal.

Now if only the HWDSB would smarten up and join in on this city building.

This will be massive...I mean that in a good way, of course. Can't wait for some action.

I was going to post that, but realized I did, just over a year ago.

I hope the streetfront commercial is a bit more exciting than in the rendering. It looks like they've just copied the acclamation style - which is really a boring space. I'd like to see more glass and a more open streetfront.

That would look so awesome on James, this is one time that I'm happy it's not a skyscraper... a few more floors would be good tho.

Agreed, at that height it blends well with the surrounding streetwall yet it adds some really good density.

It's a nice looking project. The upper levels, though, look like stucco or pre-fab panelling or something. I know it's too early to judge but those floors have a distinctly Hamilton feel to them.

Unsure if this is just some foundation work or not.

I was talking to architect John Mokrycke the other day and I asked him when? He said he hopes the shovel will go into the ground in September. Remember he is only the architect and is not the owner/builder of the building. They have made a lot of changes and there was an OMB objection from the Vasco Da Gama club next door that has held it up. The hole in the ground there now is for repairs to the foundations that need to be done first.
