^ Ha! I totally understand the excitement over the only good scraper in town under construction (in LA, we have absolutely nada at the moment). But this is CHICAGO, which put up the equivalent of half the LA skyline - or maybe more - in the last 8 years alone. This ain't your first rodeo.
When you look at the progress on this one, they're actually moving quite fast. In less than a month, they've gone from digging and installing raker beams to framing the foundation for the core. That's not half bad, especially for foundation work.
Hey, I wasn't complaining.
I do wish harryc was still around to give us some detailed shots and commentary on this guy. I'm down in NOLA, so I can't check it out in person.

The great thing about this tower is that even though it's only 469 ft, it'll be a skyline changer, being so prominent from the Grant Park view.

I was just curious but how active is the proposal for Buckingham II right next door? It is being planned by Roosevelt as well? Was just curious if it was something we could expect or hope for sometime in the near future?
Buckingham II is a proposal by a private company, not by Roosevelt or Columbia.
I think Fioretti was opposed to it after some South Loopers complained about a few drunk college students. He may have put a quiet stop to the project.

Thanks for the update. That is disappointing. With Buckingham II that area would have looked so much nice and filled in. I hate looking at all those surface lots when I am in that neighborhood!

I can't remember the last time on here I saw Chicago construction photos with a concrete core rising and rakers on all sides. Waterview maybe? Very refreshing to see this.
