I'm jonesing for some commas, right about now, and at least some attempt at spell checking.

I grew up in the Detroit area in the '70's and my friends and I would cruise into downtown Detroit as often as we could. Enjoying your photos from around the city and some of the burbs brought me back to those cruising days. Thank you very much!

really great - I would love to timetravel to the 1950s and see the city when it housed 1.8 million - it looks quite distressed today.

Wow, great tour! It is sad to see so many buildings in decay and so many burned down homes. Thanks for sharing.

Who would have thought?

Anyway, great post. Detroit has really good bones - I really hope it makes a comeback before anything else is lost.

Were all these pics taken within city limits?

BTW, when you said winter you really meant winter.

Well,

The first 18 pics werent taken in Detroit. They were taken in surrounding cities (and the Airport). Above the pictures I wrote where I shot them.

And yea. I took these pictures right around new years and it was bloody cold all the time, but it was a lot of fun!

As usual, these Detroit threads are fascinating and depressing at the same time. I have been through parts of the city that are truly creepy, utterly devoid of human beings, in the middle of a huge metro area. Sadly, I still don't think it has hit rock bottom as long as an apathetic population keeps electing a corrupt local government that either doesn't give a damn, or doesn't have a clue how to fix problems even if they did.
