A 13-year-old girl was killed after she was slapped so hard by her 71 year-old father that she went into a coma. They're not calling it a homicide-yet, but clearly it is a second degree murder. The Longueuil agglomeration must be at 4 or 5 now, but I'm not sure.

And just today a man tried to strangle his mother, also in Longueuil. Messed up...

not sure what these cities are at, but Delta had one a week or so ago; A 15 year old girl beaten to death on her way to a high school football game, and 1 in Surrey the other day after a man was shot.

Montreal is now at 32 homicides.

Last year, we had a total of 31 and 28 for 2008. It is still very low compare to 90's when we reach 60-70 homicides in the bad years of Bike War.

A murder back in July happened on the exact same street as Saturday's incident. Both are currently unsolved.

So much for Montreal North being the most dangerous part of town. Actually on a per capita basis, downtown Montreal, with its 80,000 people has more homicides than Regina and Saskatoon.

Ville-Marie is not just downtown though, its also the Centre-Sud area which is where most of the murders happen.

In the actual downtown there have been 4 homicides so far. If you count the gay village as part of downtown, then its 6.

I wonder how that compares to the downtowns of other cities in Canada?

Two people are dead and a third in critical condition after a series of shootings in the North End Saturday night, and police are warning the public the shooter is still at large.

Police said they are looking for a person armed with a firearm who could be on foot or on a bicycle.
"We are asking all members of the public to be diligent regarding their personal safety," a police officer said.
Police said additional information will be released as it becomes available.

There was a man delivering pizza's to Highfield Park in the Halifax area last night who was shot to death in the lobby of an apt building. It sounds random to me. This would make 8 for the city now.

They said on the new that it might be random. Pretty scary.

Montreal is at 33.
