According to this thread, it's the old post office.

Thanks for checking pblaauw. Whenever I Google "old post office, Halifax, NS" I get the current AGNS (Art Gallery of NS) next to it (also identified as the Customs House). Other than the pictures that were posted by OldDartmouthMark, I can't find any pictures of this mystery building. It seems to have existed for only a few decades and is located where a City Market building stood in 1878.

Here are some other images of the old customs house.
If anything from the cities past could be rebuilt it should be this. Such a massive loss.

And I can't remember where this image came from but I had it saved on my computer.

Amazing shot from the guys at Skyline Studios!
Love the colours and the wind turbines in the distance.

In one of the other photos you can see how much of an impact Queen's Marque is going to have.

Hopefully in a few years we'll also see the Discovery Centre and Green Lantern redevelopments plus the Cunard Block.

That skyline picture looks great. I wonder if the colours have been edited? In any case, it is good to see such a variety of colours in the skyline. Also the NS Power building looks great; it is no longer an eyesore on the skyline.

It truly is amazing the changes in the skyline of Halifax in such a short time and not just the downtown area either.
