I hope they renovate and lease the retail quickly. Not good to have so much empty storefront in literally the heart of the retail district.

More than 70 construction projects will clog downtown Portland this summer

More than 70 construction projects are expected to get underway in and around downtown Portland this summer, bringing with them the attendant traffic jams and longer commutes.

Officials from regional agencies and utilities say they're working to coordinate construction, better communicate traffic impacts to commuters and avoid unnecessary delays. They're calling the effort "Get Portland Moving" and posting updates at movepdx.net.

For example, the Portland Parks Bureau is moving up work on Pioneer Courthouse Square to coordinate with planned MAX track repairs on Southwest Morrison and Yamhill streets. The Portland Bureau of Environmental Services, meanwhile, will repair nearby sewer pipes at the same time.

Work on all three projects will begin around April 30.

A building permit was issued to Bora Architects for alterations to the Meier & Frank Building:

Interior alteration -demolition of interior partitions, finishes, and associated materials. Demolish dedicated MEP systems serving current Macy’s tenant space. All work will be coordinated to ensure cotinuous operation of hotel floors above

I was beginning to wonder when their opening date was since they both basically look like they are all done. I check it out every time I head over to the food carts for some yummy taco rice at Richi's.

I was catching up with what was happening in my old hood on Next Portland. I lived on the border of the West End and Goose Hollow. Wow! Is this area the next Pearl? Or is this just run-of-the-mill, expected growth? It was pretty desolate over there even last year with few signs of life.

The old house at 1135 SW 12th has a sign on the fence saying "Structure to be demolished."

Any news?

That's a small spot if the house next door isn't going to be demolished as well.

Do you mean 1135 SW 12th? Last I read it was going to be moved, and my understanding was that was still going forward.

Ugh! Yes. Thank you. I meant SW 12th, not Jefferson. I have Sky3 on the brain today since that thing is still under construction of some sort.
