If that's the final result, that's a shame. It looks like the only lights that are installed are the ones at the bottom section of the spire and the top aluminum section of the spire from the inside.

Trical not only invests in projects but also builds them as they are contractors themselves. I like the design and hope that it makes it. If the city is still incentivizing this would be ideal in that there would be 1000+ keys built.

Wasn't the skin of the building supposed to be enbedded with thousands of LED lights? I seem to remember years ago (when they first proposed two towers) that the building would be able to flash advertising, public announcements, art, etc. It was exciting and controversial at the same time.

The sail portion of the spire absolutely must be brightly illuminated. In my eyes it would redeem the tower a bit. No way would they be so stupid as to just illuminate the pole portion.

The sail portion along with the spire are supposed to be lit up.

Here's 8th & Spring from a few days ago. I like how the podium is level with the roofline of the adjacent brick building, although I wish it was abutted against it. I actually think that this one will turn out better than expected. Maybe a bit awkward looking, yes, but nothing worse than Robert A.M. Stern's Chatham.

Thanks Cesar. Looks like were getting the first taste of the LED action on the crown. If its anything like what I saw in Shanghai, We're in for a treat.

Yes, but it seemed to have been removed when it went to the one tower configuration. It would have been great and visually inspiring had they kept it.

You seem to be talking about three roles.
1. Developer
2. Investors (equity partner, lenders, etc.)
3. Contractor

It's the developer's project. Some developers do their own construction but most hire a general contractor.

A small update from yesterday. The gaps are slowly being filled.

Metropolis is the first few buildings in that cluster to the right. What they did do was severely underestimate WG's height.

This rendering does include metropolis, it should be updated with the 66 story 925 S. Figueroa Street and the 53-story skyscraper across Figueroa Street from the convention center’s South Hall.

Welcome back LAMetroGuy...its been a while.
This photo, even in its flaws...presents a transformative view of DTLA. Where we were 10 years ago when I first signed on to now...is night and day.

Sorry for the poor quality, I was out for a run and was caught by surprise. Though I would still share with everyone though!

Oh wow! I'm down in Laguna Beach right now. I can't wait to get back home. I still hope the entire spire gets lit though.
