How many paying visitors does the Citadel admit to its fortress grounds each year? I would venture that Georges Island could do half as many visitors, being on the waterfront with high visibility for tourists.
Apparently 500,000/year, though I'm not sure they're all paying: http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/docs/pc/attend/table2.aspx

I honestly don't know how you'd accommodate 1,000 people per day on George's Island.

There's not a chance you could get more than a few thousand people a year there unless you installed ferris wheels and food trucks.

The best use of the island ought to be as a tower support for a much-needed third harbour crossing.

I'd pay, and I'm from here.

Look at the crane and top of Martime tower. Clearly looks edited.

Halifax is really starting to bulk up. Hopefully the projects will keep on coming.

Taken today. It looks like the Alexander will just be visible between NC and MC from this spot.
Also, does anyone know what the construction is on the citadel in the foreground of the picture?

Nice photo!

Funny, for all the rigmarole about view planes, there doesn't seem to be much of a view left from the Citadel anyhow.

The View Planes were never meant to protect all the views from the Citadel, just specific, important ones. They are from defined vantage points, to defined points-of-interest. I've always thought the hatred of them was way overblown, because they're actually pretty limited in scope. I've also always thought using view planes to oppose development outside the View Planes was stupid because that development actually frames the defined views and makes them more powerful.

Nice find. The colour tones really stand out. The Maple and Roy have really changed this perspective.

Nice angle on the downtown. Trying to figure out where it was taken. Top of the Purdy's Wharf parking garage?
