I wonder how they have been selling. I hope it goes well for them so other developers might take the plunge.

It's stunning. Reminds me of Miami, just on the shore of a river instead of the ocean lol.

I hope they put a nicely designed sign on the wide mech part up top – it's screaming for a sign there.

Cheap window wall with loads of spandrel glass. That's as Canadian as maple syrup. It is what it is. Glasshouse is good. This is average.

Interesting take. 390 has definitely been more warmly received here than Glasshouse. I can't say I'd argue with popular opinion either. Maybe it has to do with the site... somehow 390 just stands out and looks great. Glasshouse sort of merges with its surroundings to some extent... it's kind of neutral.

Glasshouse is so boring. Sure it's nice that it's all glass (pre-code changes), but it's so dull – just one symmetrical, flat building. And the concrete balconies look cheap and unfinished compared to all the black trim. It's a welcome addition to downtown, but IMO it's just "meh" in terms of design.

^ Yeah, Glasshouse has a sound design, no one is going to call it ugly. But it doesn't stand out on the skyline the way that 390 does. I suppose 390's setting helps it to stand out too... right on the riverbank, near a cluster of older, somewhat dowdy looking 60s, 70s and 80s buildings.

The colour is nice, it stands out from the bland, old dated concrete buildings

the heritage landing building did a great job of blending in with the surrounding 60s, 70s, 80s concrete

it's like it got invited to a retro night costume party for high-rises, but forgot to take off the costume after the party ended lol

I just really wish they either put black finishing, or continued the stainless caps for the entire length of the balconies – I think it looks unfinished and cheap as is.

I consider this one more elegant than glasshouse, although both look nice.

Are they remarkable? On a national scale, no. But Glasshouse/Alt was the first privately developed highrise in over 20 years in Winnipeg, so neither it nor 390 need to get outrageous to stand out.

It is what it is... without comparables, they're among the nicest new buildings in the city.

This tower easily beats Glasshouse.

While Glasshouse may not be glamorous in comparison to 390 on the River, it was still a pleasant change from what we had when it was built. It was also nice to have a residential addition to that area of Portage Avenue.

I’m happy with Glasshouse. The Alt looks like it’s made out of cardboard; so cheap looking.

The way I see it, 390's prominent setting on the river makes the cheap cladding stand out even more. I agree the balcony's treatment on Glasshouse could of been better but, it still doesn't amount to a large wall made of small seaform spandrel panels held up by miles of mullion caps. The window wall on Glasshouse is cleaner and modern.

Who knows. Maybe it will take a few more 390s popping up for the novelty of "being different" to wear out.

I like the exterior of glass house better, but the setting, height and slenderness of 390 is superior.
