^ Nice shots! I'm always mesmerised by the views from our local highrises.

Notre Dame looks like such a grand thoroughfare from the air, doesn't it?

Thanks folks. Well, you all know how dreary it was the last two weeks, save this past weekend.

The triangular lot at Notre Dame, Smith & Ellice is screaming to be replaced by a marvelous glass tower, not unlike the one that was proposed for confusion corner. Alas, how I miss the Eaton's store in some of those photos.

That triangle is not the biggest surface parking lot downtown, but it is one of the worst as it's such a prominent spot and it's a gap where there should be a strong connection between the Exchange District, Portage and Main, and the rest of downtown. That would be a perfect spot for either a showpiece of a tower or just a good, solid, dense collection of lowrise/midrise buildings.

Hard to believe that there has been nothing on that lot but parking for about 60 years now.

Even a 10-15 storey tower with the right exterior finishing would look great there. 286 Smith (behind the Radisson) would benefit from a new façade.

^ I love the Kensington Building. Its skinniness makes it look like it wandered over from some Asian megacity with sky high real estate prices where they build'em tall and slim. It's a nice contrast to Winnipeg's newer towers which are becoming increasingly squat.

I just wish the Kensington could hang on to a tenant for the main floor storefront space along Portage...

No, 1ajs, I was at the Trizec on Tuesday. BTW, did you notice the common area on the roof of the Avenue Building? It looks like it's a rooftop deck with lounging areas, seating, benches and planters. If you look closely at the pics or zoom in, you can make it out. That is a nice feature to have when you're living downtown right near P&M. There's actually a rooftop deck atop the Sterling Building as well (your last picture) not as nice and big as the one on the Avenue Bldg.

That massive concrete wall is awful, but the other elevations are decent.

^Those are great! I'm really excited to see how APTN looks when it's all done. Hoping for some "Northern Lights" LED lighting or something on the outside.
