SFO runways are less than that. More like 530-550ft apart.

I've flown through SFO several times to and from China. That never gets old.

I take it this is from the park south of the airport. Now that's a spot I want to see planes come in or take off from. Not quite but almost Wayne's World kinda spot.

One of my favorite spots to watch planes land from was our vet up in Hyde Park off 51st Street when Mueller was still open. They have a covered wooden deck out front with a rail. I would go up out there and balance on that rail with my back up against the wall of the building and wait for the planes to land. They would fly right over the building.

LAX with two parallels on each side of the terminals can be pretty exciting as well.

ATL has nice parallel runways too. They normally only let you run in parallel for a little bit before they make you both veer away from the airport, but it's pretty cool.

The most recent that I found was from this July. I guess some of us will just have to go out there and film some more.

What do you guys think the chances are of Delta adding CVG-AUS? It’s their last hub(ish) that doesn’t have a flight to Austin. Allegiant and Frontier fly to CVG now, you would think Delta would compete and add a flight to Austin.

I've always thought that routes like CVG, MEM, and others that are either DL hubs or focus cities serve as kind of a tell in regards to DL's future plans here.

In the short term, I don't think there's enough O/D market for DL's relatively higher-end product, but plenty of room for the ULCC's to make a bit of money on less-than-daily service.

But if AUS may mean something more to DL in the medium- and longer-term, then CVG-AUS and similar routes may be the first in a series of events that would be exciting to watch!

Keep meaning to ask, but does anyone know what the Atlas 747F was doing at ABIA on the 21st? Maybe hauling around Depeche Mode's gear?

Do you know how that compares with other cities? Does that de facto make us a Delta hub?

Indon’t think Austin will ever be a hub for Delta. A large focus city is where I see them going.

They want to test their op's and see how things work with the big birds. They will also be adding ticket counter check-in space within the next few months.

Frontier more than likely is being booted to the South Terminal which should occur in January '18.

And for those who follow this thread, a couple years ago I mentioned Korean Air starting service. It obviously never materialized. I learned recently that Korean Air has been in contact with the port and CBP within the last month again looking at the facilities. With Delta being a JV it makes sense. Time will tell.
This all makes since, I always had a feeling Delta would expand in Austin. Your right, time will tell. I’m hoping for the best.

Austin1971, do you know why Frontier didn’t move to the South Terminal when it opened?
