We went to Hawaii last year just before our girl turned 2. Worked out great.

I think we had a extra seat between us both ways on the Westjet plane (Vancouver to Honolulu), so that worked out pretty well. I think she curled up to sleep on the chair on the way home.

For our trip to Maui in April we are flying on Air Canada. But I've preselected our seats on the 767, although not 3 wide on the sides of the plane it is only 2 wide, but at least we won't be bothering a seat neighbour that way.

Bulk Head

Bulk head seats are the way to go - extra foot room, which can double as a play area, etc. if your baby is already on their feet and it's a long flight...

In case you're a strict Catholic (or something) and don't realize this:

Reproductive urges and the things that make women "not dudes" are two different things, thankfully. In fact thanks to modern contraceptive research, I'd say there's really no connection anymore.

I mean, if you wanna have kids eventually, then the above is a non-issue. It is worth pointing out though, because it's amazing just how many people don't seem to realize this (implied by your comment). Heck, I have zero urge to actually reproduce, but that doesn't in any way affect the more fun urges.

It's also amazing just how hard it can be to give up the selfish manchild lifestyle - "That's funny, all I have in my purse is disposable income!"

Yup, we couldn't get a bulkhead on the flight out but have it on the flight back from Maui.

At night Mrs. Bigtime gets her and gives her a feed and she is still miserable when put back in the crib.

She's perfectly happy when you are playing with her and not putting her in her crib.

Any advice? Rum on the gums? We're pretty sure it is not teething, as she has no rosy cheeks and isn't chewing on stuff constantly. She has two teeth so far on the bottom that came in about a month ago, and none of the same signs have shown themselves right now.
Try some rum over your gums (and into your belly). Might not help Littletime but it will make YOU feel better.

Ear infections should only last a few days or a week tops but it might be worth a consideration. My experience with them is they always tend to start late on a Thursday so that by the time you think your kid might have one (on Friday PM) it is too late to get in to see your family Dr. before the w/e. Problem is if you leave it too long, or don't realize it is an infection, yourisk rupturing the eardrum which is what happend to my little guy. Not a huge deal (it heals) but you sure feel bad when you find out what just happened.

Just a note for any folks flying Westjet and if you're in the bulkhead with your wee ones, I should let you know that you will not be able to sit in the aisle seats, as these seats are reserved for able bodied persons NOT responsible for another individual. You will need to sit in window and/or middle, but of course you still get to enjoy the extra legroom! Enjoy your flight!

Oh my, I haven't been in here for a while!

Congrats Innersoul on joining the papa club! Hope you're getting sleep!

Our daughter (who's now 2 months old) has decided the 9 PM - 2 AM period is THE time to be awake! This has been going on for at least a month... Mrs. Danma is not thrilled by this experience.

It's like they think the most exciting stuff in the world must be going on when you put them to bed, so forget that sleep nonsense!

Littletime was doing pretty good sleeping through the night lately, usually only getting up around 2am. I'd get up, change a diaper and put her back down to bed. But for the last couple of weeks the schedule has been more like this:

9pm- bedtime
11pm- wakeup #1
2-3am- wakeup #2
6-6:30am-wakeup #3

I'm off to work by 6:30am, and she will usually fall back to sleep until around 8:30-9am at that point. Nap time is scheduled from 2-4, and she is a real champ at that.
