Yes, agree.
His son seems to be moving along with 220 Dundurn - has been advertising upcoming units for rent for a few months now - moving more quickly than he did with the King/Hess building.

yes 22o Dundurn is an absolute travesty. It looks like corrugated steel on the fourth floor, mismatched brick, cheap and sloppy construction. Similar to Queen and Hess. You only have to walk over the Frid st bridge to see the scale of the amateur hour of this development.

A little questionable looking, but it probably won't be awful when it's finished. I'm pretty sure this is meant to be affordable housing.

^Is this precast business happening in other cities or is it a Hamilton thing?

the precast kinda blows but the form with the 3rd flow setback flows good with the surroundings. I still can't believe I'm looking at a new build at Cannon and Cathcart, though. Next we'll be looking at one at Barton and Birch. Hamilton has indeed entered an interesting phase.

I haven't seen much in Ottawa that I can remember, but they're more on a metallic spandrel-thing kick. Thunder Bay meanwhile builds very little, and that's all the cities I know much about.

I've definitely seen precast buildings in Burlington, Oakville, and Mississauga. Most of it is usually along the QEW, but there have been large condos such as "The Strata" in downtown Burlington made almost entirely by precast materials as well. Even in Toronto, while the floors of newer condos may be constructed from real concrete most of the walls, windows, and side treatments are done in precast glass and aluminum boxes.

If the re-emergence of central Hamilton continues at the existing or better rate into the next couple of decades, Cannon could very well end up being the most transformed street.

Totally. You can clearly see this building from Cannon & James making that corner feel way more urban.

Vranich never seems to have a problem with getting the structure up, its just finishing it that he seems to have trouble with...

I think it will probably turn out better than I initially thought too.
