I found a little weird the fact that they completed the whole base with windows and all and then started building the tower. The cladding is a bit dull but judging from the render this is gonna be a good looking tower similar to 1295 René-Lévesque.

Their construction method is okay. I think they are trying to speed up the construction. That is, as soon as the concrete cures, they can put in the envelope up, and the interiors. So multi-tasking.

Also, they are trying to get the envelope up so they can speed up/reduce cost when winter comes - as certain building elements need being placed above a certain temperature.

Thanks for the pics! Altoria is definitely one of my three favourites (along with Le V and Icone). I'm curious to see how the tower's cladding will look.

Walked by Altoria yesterday, glass panels are coming onto the residential portion. Shaping up to look really nice.

I have to say I'm so pleased with the general quality of the materials in this one. Truly a great addition to the city from street level, especially from the square.

This is where the traditional Montreal skyscraper usually stops adding floors and settles into a stumpy future.

11 floors to go.

Here's slightly updated high-res renders. Notice the Aimia lettering at the top on the mechanical area on the roof.

I think this will look quite good when it's done.

Competing claims to height: One of them is wrong...

La Presse (Dec. 2012): 130 m http://blogues.lapresse.ca/lapressea...er/2012/12/17/

Journal de Montréal (Nov. 2011): 120 m http://touraimia.com/pdf/news/Canoe-...-tourviger.pdf

But the land it's being built on is zoned 120m and there was no "dérogations" given to this project...

The tower looks taller than 120m on the renders... The promoters could have cheated on the derogation, thus receiving a fine. Why would La Presse, a reliable newspaper, give any false informations?
