Samuelian was describing the construction going on at 10 Hudson Yards — the first building to be put up at the site.

“It’s a 52-story office building, we’re at about the 27th floor right now,” Samuelian said.

By this time next year, 10 buildings should be completed, as well as the deck over the rail yard, Haskell reported.

“And you’ll start to see the retail and 30 Hudson Yards, which will ultimately be the fourth tallest office building in New York starting to go vertical,” Samuelian said.

They'll be happy to have ONE building completed by this time next year, and that's very questionable. And again, 30 Hudson won't be the 4th tallest.

Vertical_Gotham has a pretty cool development map showing all of the nearby activity. Use this as a reminder when it comes to what's planned: http://www.yimbyforums.com/t/new-yor...ict-43m-sf/178

In general, it corresponds to the massive development dots on the SSP maps diagram for this area.

New Permits for 30 Hudson Yards Finally Give Official Height: 1,287 Feet

Quote:
The flagship office tower of Related’s Hudson Yards development, dubbed 30 Hudson Yards, finally has a firm height number. New applications filed with the Department of Buildings reveal a pinnacle 1,287 feet above street level, which is actually slightly above the most recent guesstimates.

The number has hovered just above the Empire State Building’s 1,250-foot spire since last year, when the tower saw a slight reduction. It was originally supposed to surpass the 1,300-foot mark, but apparently that will not be the case. Until now, the only official documents on 30 Hudson Yards had been dummy filings, with a listed height of only 680 feet for its 68 floors.

While the Far West Side has the most proposed supertalls of any neighborhood in New York City, none have yet been built, and the transformation over the next year will be dramatic. 10 Hudson Yards, already underway, will be joined by 15, 30, and 35 Hudson Yards, and 3 Hudson Boulevard is also anticipated to begin construction. Unlike its neighbors, 30 Hudson Yards is expected to offer a public observation deck.

Despite the apparent surge in office development, residential is what’s most in-demand along the Far West Side, and the success of Silverstein’s proposal for 520 West 41st Street could be a game-changer for the neighborhood’s future. That project must traverse ULURP before it can rise, but hopefully a rethinking of the greater Hudson Yards rezoning could yield similarly-sized apartment towers across the Far West Side.

In the meantime, Time Warner will anchor 30 Hudson Yards, and opening day is expected in 2018.

This is it. These are official with the DOB.

I'm happy. Still taller than the ESB which is a step forward. Nice MJ reference.

The 10 buildings being "completed" is obviously a misunderstanding, but I don't see 30 Hudson being more than 5th tallest at best (behind Freedom, Nordstrom, 111 W. 57th, and 432 Park). Unless we're just talking about at the moment of completion, which is still questionable.

He said fourth tallest office building in New York, so we should exclude all the residentials. I guess he is counting 1WTC, 2WTC and Vanderbilt.

^ Sounds reasonable. Now they just need to clear up that completion error.

Yes, that latest height change was updated a couple of weeks ago. Of course, it could always be revised.

But more importantly, we finally have the full height reflected in the permit...

Haven't been in the N.Y. thread too often but , a month or so , ago , I thought
I read a post that stated one of the towers at Hudson Yard would be taller than
Freedom tower .... something like 1803 ft. Or have I been sniffing too much
air plane glue .

Your thinking about the Hudson Spire. That is a vision for now, and the height is unknown, but at the time of a concept rendering, it was something like 1700 feet plus.

Yea thats the one I was alluding too. Not a real proposal for the record. Something may come of the site, but most likely not that design.

Tishman Speyer is planning another supertall development on that sight, which may or may not be taller than 30 Hudson. You can follow that here...

That is MASSIVE looking steel on the 33rd st side

Thanks to NYguy for the photos!

That is MASSIVE looking steel on the 33rd st side, so I assume that is really part of the 30 HY foundations. Looking NE

NYguy

It also looks like they've reached the 33rd street retaining wall (the gray concrete wall on the left, center). So I assume they'll be able to DRIVE equipment onto the platform from 33rd street in the next few months.
Looking NE:

NYguy

And here's a snip froma 3+ week old hardcoreshutterbug photo that gives an overhead context to NYguy's photos.
