WELL THIS ONE IS DEAD. I spoke to a friend very much in the know. She said the CIM Group from LA that was financing it has backed out under a bogus opt-out clause in the loan agreement. Without that debt facility, she said the project is being scaled back. Just the parking podium for now, with the building "a decade off" or more likely never going forward in the current iteration. But they're going to put a public park on top of the garage and are naming it after some Texan. A woman, named April Fools I think.

I hope they at least increase the height of the parking podium to 20-stories or so for the masses that will going to the new super library and cafe.

Why stop at 20 stories? I think it's about time we had a world class parking garage in Austin. How many parking garage levels could they get into a 690-foot high tower?

I heard they were going to knock it all down and just have an asphalt parking lot.

I walked by there yesterday. Huge pillings (sp?) being assembled. Also West is now open south so cars can access Seaholm. 2nd heading West is open almost to the new bridge to access North Shore. Art walls around the substation have also been installed. I bought on 43rd anyone else?

Where on the site is it going up? The photo in the previous post was taken Friday, and it looks like they may have been getting ready to pour the base on the north end of the site. Do you mean the crane base went up, or is the actual crane going up? Either way it's great news because this one will be going up quickly.

Right where the fresh concrete is in your picture - center left, directly above the red box. Googling confirmed crane base not tower crane, sorry about that. I got excited what I can I say.

You can see the blue crane base in this pic. Taken this morning. Apr 28. Lots of rebar delivered at the same time.

This photo also shows the art wall around the sub-station.

First crane is up but the base for the second means that the other could be imminent. Man is this one moving fast.

Do you think the crane base closest to the creek will go up inside the building? or is it just on the north side, outside?
