I am eager for all these tech jobs to be available in midtown. Too many of our higher paying tech jobs have been so far out in the suburbs.

In the years I have been doing IT consulting, I have found I can negotiate much higher rates in the suburbs. Many of these businesses not centrally located just can’t find the specialized skills. Also, older people who live in the suburbs tend to have mortgages, families, and full time jobs, so the younger consultants are that much harder to find there. 10 years ago, there was a 20-30% bonus for suburban work, however I’m not sure what it is now.
