There will be many proposals for this site. I really like this concept, but this isn't what's going to be built there, but does give a good idea of what the aim is. Exciting times

Shame it's not real, but in the bright side it gives us an idea of what to expect out of that site. Possible tallest in the city.

There's 3 whole blocks in Bunker Hill that should be redeveloped, the WTC being one of them.

Hopefully.

Library Tower did best with what it could with the helipad mandates. Now that it’s gone, the LA skyline would develop more character if dominated by a tower that doesn’t have a flat-top roof.

Here's a good document on it - http://libraryarchives.metro.net/DPG...ve_summary.pdf
The Miami one is fantastic, and theyre finally looking to expand it.

The route makes more sense than the streetcar proposal as well.

The Miami Metromover is fantastic and yes they are extending it across the bay to Miami Beach, if our current federal government doesn't kill this in the midst of new budget cuts. I would love to have the monorail/people mover on its original alignment. An entire section of downtown was purpose built for it and the infrastructure is still in place. This, IMO would be better than the streetcar in function, although they serve different areas. A monorail or people mover on Broadway may not be visually appetizing.

Also, from what was earlier stated, we have another start of construction at he hope street building tomorrow. Excited for that

Seriously, a 1300' footer on the site with a massive spire topped out at 1500' will be the ideal skyscraper.

Just three blocks? All of Bunker Hill needs redevelopment.

^ This is great! Here's hoping Onni brings more of AMA's work our way. A quick perusal of their site shows some pretty interesting pieces.

A bit reminiscent of the Koolhaus proposal for Santa Monica. But since that one isn't going anywhere this is a decent substitution.

Good to see Onni mixing up architects instead of using Chris Diekawhatever for every project.

Second groundbreaking of the year!!

More pressingly though, how do people feel about a Los Angeles Mega Thread? I asked earlier but recieved no response. I would be happy to create one, with everyone's help of course. As a paramod, I have the ability to create threads, and close existing threads. I feel like combining the LA Metro Thread and the LA Downtown Thread has been a long time coming, and would help facilitate increased discussion.

1133 added to under construction. Now every project from that Urbanize article that said the Canadians were taking over has all their listed projects under construction I had added the missing projects a few of you mentioned earlier to the front page. Now i'm finally going to add the missing Arts District projects, and then we can move onto City West, and so on.

I have 6th/Alameda/Mill, and Mesquite pulled up and they should be added shortly. Projects without a rendering are typically hard to add because we have nothing to go by.

@Illithid Dude, I imagine that would get kind of confusing. Some just like to focus on Downtown rather than the city as a whole. Although if you're up for the challenge then you have my backing.

Illithid Dude, I'm in support of a combined LA thread, but will leave it up to the community at large. People, please chime in accordingly.

If the majority of people want a combined thread, it can be as easy as copy/pasting the code of first posts of both threads and combining into a new one, then organizing by height and or neighborhood. If we have someone who updates a development map, that could sit up at the top as a link. You should be able to archive threads as a paramod as well. If not, I can archive both threads once the new one is created.

Yeah let's do a mega thread. It will help to compare all these proposed Koreatown skyscrapers to those downtown.

Would the Megathread be all of LA county or just LA city? I find it challenging choosing which neighborhoods and cities to include in a combined thread. I can align with a mega thread, what I would question is whether Long Beach, OC, Glendale would be included or excluded from this?

For the purposes of discussion flow, would prefer them to be separate. Not a huge fan of Long Beach and Valley projects popping up in the middle of a DTLA discussion. Downtown LA is a unique animal, and thus should be discussed separately.
