US Steel Tower construction - Pittsburgh, PA

I was wondering does anyone have any photos of the US steel tower under construction during 1967-1970?

My favorite fun fact is that this tower has 2.3 million sq ft. Compare that to the Empire State Building which is 2.2 million even though it is much taller. It shows how thick this building is all the way to the top.

I had a meeting there last week, as I do relatively often.

My sister and her husband work there, and my dad worked there for a very long time before he retired. Even though it is not the most attractive, I always liked it. Pretty cool to see it under construction.

Also remember going to top of the triangle for swanky dinners as a kid too.

I love that building (and the ones that have gone up since then). That building is like a unique signature for the Pittsburgh skyline. I always loved going toward downtown on I-376 past the Squirrel Hill tubes and seeing it pop into view after rounding the hill before the Oakland exit. It's equally neat viewed from I-279 southbound.

I ate once up in the restaurant too, took my family there for my mom's birthday...it was called "Top of the Triangle" then...

Here is a great image of what the large outside supporting beams look like after being first made. Go to...
