I for one go to SSC for my Dubai updates. The information there is much more in-depth and the updates much more frequent. Though it can get a little overwhelming...

Of course I'll get about 1 reply in a week even though this is one of the best towers ever!!! Al Sharq tower confirmed to be 342m high and now for some more asskicking renderings:

Lobby Entrance Perspective.

Upper Level Units.

Details only.

Aswell, out of those 8 plots sold in business bay 2 days ago, Damac bought the largest one and apparently plan to build a 90F building. Their buildings are generally high quality so expect this one to be a stunner (although details won't be released for ages probably). It's the same guys building ocean heights so it has to be good.

Those renderings of Al Sharq tower are cool. That first one of the lobby reminds me of muscle fibers for some reason. Very different, but very cool. The architect for this one is SOM, right?

This render's absolutely nuts
It's of the downtown area of the waterfront. About 200 towers are to be built, maybe even more. After seeing this I'm actually starting to like Al Burj. The good thing is though, this will not be ready for 10 or 15 years. By that time the digits in the 1.3 million figure will have swapped since the population grows by about 100,000 to 150,000 a year.

Found these proposals on the net today. The first one seems serious but not sure about the 2nd one.

Really outrageous but for some reason I love this cold, super-clean, digital world type architecture. Find it really facinating. No heights given but it's possible these could scrape 300m.

Here goes:

Some res tower on SZR, looks tall

An office tower, in the marina? I thought marina was all res? :weird:

On the inside

They look like they're made with liquid metal or something

I like the first one but the lines on the second one really appeal to me.

It great to see Dubai putting up more inovate designs, these newest towers have a lot of potential.

This rendering has gone way overboard though....

I mean come on, look at the clouds way down there. Are these people at 25,000 feet? I'd expect to see some oxygen masks out on that balcony. The design is amazing though. Exterior cables have never been used to transfer loads loads on any building of this height. Its typically a low-rise or just a portion of a high-rise that will see a cable structure, but here the whole tower will be wrapped in them. I wonder though if this is just for athestics, with the floors cantilevering out from the core, or if these cables really are indeed taking on a load.

What a great rendering of the skyline! It's going to be quite impressive.

Well, nothing wrong with a sense of humour
I guess they just want to emphasize the living in the sky element.

BTW there's a new tower in Dubai which may hit 300m but the design sucks so bad that it's not even worth mentioning here. It's so bad that a 300m concrete box would be better and it's no joke. The good thing though is there's some controversy over some elements in it's design (if you could call it a design) and authorities in Dubai aren't too happy about it. Hopefully that tower won't go ahead!

Haven't posted in this thread for ages

Construction of Almas Tower is progressing nicely. Should start to rise soon:

Also within the next 2 weeks there is supposed to be an official release of the 4 seasons hotel which will be 320m and will be all building, no spire.
Also some long-awaited news on a 101-storey tower by the fortune group might be released soon. Hope so because this has been known about for a half a year and nothing so far.
Aswell I'll keep a lookout for tall towers in business bay
