wow, u londoners are getting ALOTA great stuff! im extremely in love with bishopsgate tower. here in vancouver, we're getting alota cool stuff too, thank god for the olympics eh? lol

im also wondering where the pano was taken from. seems like a pleasant neighbourhood in london correct? i've been to london once a few years ago for a band trip. we stayed in a dorm near russell sq, apparently the neighbourhood was in a red light district from wat i heard, but nevertheless, i found it a very nice area.

That building is beautiful! But... isn't the location just perfect for the nimbys to go ballistic?

Here's an idea: take lots of pictures of people just stading and amazedly looking at things (like a view such as that one), crop the pics to just the people. Then finagle a way to get them into renderings like that.

I saw some work going on at the current 20 Fenchurch street site which seems ike a demolition of the lower part of the building. Is the demolition underway already?

It's just a render for god sakes. Just to show what the gardens will look like. Bloody hell. Talk about picky.

Yeah, demolition started a couple of months ago.

That'll be a nice addition to the London skyline.
If it ever gets built...

The site has already been demolished, and it's confirmed for a 2008 start.

Beetham are well-known in the UK for building towers quickly and efficiently - as demonstrated in Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, etc.

You must be kidding. The design of Beetham's tower is highly controversial. Paris is far better without such buildings.

This pano is just a vision. Only a couple of towers will be built by 2012 in the best case scenario. Today only the Broadgate Tower is under construction and only the amazing Leadenhall Building is confirmed to start construction in Q2 2008 for delivery in 2011.

Other significant towers such as the Shard, Heron, Bishopsgate and Riverside South may start construction in late 2008/early 2009 but uncertainties are rising with the recent crash in the property and equity markets.

on the Pano there are currently 7 of those towers under construction:

Broadgate - 165m
Pan Peninsula towers- 147m / 121m
Arrowhead Quay - 114m
Crossharbour - 131m
Marsh Wall towers - 140m / 98m

Castle House 147m will soon begin construction by the end of the year.

Leadenhall 225m - will as Jeff says begin construction next year and the building it will replace is currently being demolished.

Demolition of old buildings in preperation for new towers is currently taking place at
London Bridge Tower - 310m
The Pinnacle - 288m
20 Fenchurch Street - 160m
100 Middlesex Street - 105m
Riverside South towers - 236m / 189m (ground works)
Heron Tower 242m

100 Middlesex Street will certainly begin construction, though obviously with the other 5 market conditions and financing will decide, though London Bridge Tower does have an office pre-let and and a hotel confirmed.

a current shot showing the Pan Peninsula towers and a load of mid-rises under construction at Canary wharf

Great update Chest and great shot as usual.

It would be interesting to see this pano with these towers u/c and likely to start construction next year to give a more realistic view of London 2012.

I think the student development at Rodwell House/Middlesex street will be marketed by Blackstone's subsidiary "Nido". They have another development at Kings Cross. Hopefully pp will be granted later in the year.
