Woodpecker Radar Site - lattice structure 150 m high, 90 m wide, 900 m long!

The former Soviet Woodpecker Overhorizontal Radar played in cold war a great importance at cold war as syste for anti-ballistic missile detection. It was also well known for its enormous shortwave jammings, which sounded like the knocking of woodpeckers ( there the name).

The Woodpecker transmitters used a transmitting power of 10 MW and an enormous "highrise like" antenna systems: 150 metres high, 90 metres width and 900 metres long!
