its actually not a bad building...cutting out the precast and adding glass into those squares would transform it.

^^^ I like that idea, but in my opinion it seems it would be quite expensive. Those pre-cast cut outs look like they would be large and heavy.

With that being said I cant see any other way if they are even remotely considering residential use.

The new Commons building windows are pretty slender. You'd only have to expand Living room windows and leave the skinnies for the bedrooms.

Looks very prison-like. I would say Timber Creek has the resources to replace all of the windows...or so I hope.

Wasn't Timber Creek the group that gave the old Sheraton a dramatic exterior overhaul?

^ So there's hope... they could end up doing something quite nice. Recladding MAB wouldn't strike me as being any more difficult than recladding the old Sheraton where they had to deal with balconies.

Actually it was Gem Equities which did the Sheraton conversion back in 2008 (Andrew Marquess). I believe Timber Creek took over the property in 2010 and built the parkade structure in 2011.

^ Thanks for the correction Biff, I recall that Gem was involved but I couldn't remember which entity actually pulled off the renovation.

Gem Equities seem to have (had) a number of projects that eventually have Timber Creek involved in some way. The apartment block that burned down on Hargrave was also supposed to get sold to Timber Creek, again thru Gem Equities.

Hopefully Gem Equities (Marquess) has no involvement with the redevelopment of this Medical Arts building. His track record is iffy, to say the least

The City should have never entered into a deal with GEM (Marquess), given his past history. Feel bad for all of us taxpayers.

No sarcasm. Why do you feel bad for taxpayers? What deal did they enter into?

The City are the ones who sold the land to him and then demanded a huge piece back. He should be fairly compensated.

Now people are protesting the loss of scrub bush on private land? It's bogus.
