Lightbulb Ameristar Casino Hotel Black Hawk, Colorado 33 stories/350 feet

Ameristar Casino Hotel
Black Hawk, Colorado
34 stories/350 feet

Groundbreaking 8/29/06

Any status updates and construction photos of this sleeper? I've been to Black Hawk, it's only like 45 minutes into the mountains from Denver. Aren't there supposed to be twin 25 story towers going up in Black Hawk as well as this 33 story, 350' foot building? I sure would like to see some photo's of this mini-building boom!

Never heard of these twin 25 story towers you're referring to, SnyderBock... As for the Ameristar hotel tower, I have to assume that construction will really pick up in the next month or so, once the weather cooperates better...

Twin 25 story towers

I might be mistaking, but I thought I remember reading something in the Vegas Business Journal about a casino company and Holiday Inn teaming up to expand an existing casino in Black Hawk, CO. Perhaps it is a single 20 story, but I thought it was 25 story? I also thought it was twin towers? Am I just totally off here?

It may very well be true, I've just not heard anything about it...

I know Fitzgerald's is planning to expand. There has been another rumor about a proposed casino just off of 119 and Main St, at the entrance of Black Hawk.

I was watching the "news" for a change the other night, personally I hate watching the news all it is, is a bunch of crap then how many damn shootings there were for the day, then more crap then well more crap!

Anyways the bill to ban smoking in the Casino's in BlackHawk/Central City, that "could" have the potential to effect the gaming market in Colorado. I am sure people will go wheather they can smoke or not, but during a winter like the one we just had? Who the hell is going to go stand outside every 20-30 min when they are loosing thier ass off in the Casino? Almost no one, so the "smoking gamblers" might end up hurting the Colorado Gambling Industry a bit? I'm no expert but I can see where it would?

I think the Casinos should comprimise and possibly set up a air filtration unit in the Casino(s) so that way everyone is happy. And the gaming industry will continue to prosper in Colorado. Anyways that's my. Chipped in...

That garage is so Ewwww! At least they have some retail fronting it but that garage ruins the scenic background.

Actually, they blew the side of the mountain out, and it looks like the walls of a copper mine, plastered with ugly gray cement.

I actually snapped some pictures on my phone a couple weekends ago when I went up there, but unfortunately I can't get them off the phone at the moment. The crane was up and foundation work was definitely going on.

You actually won't really see the parking garage, as it will be behind the existing casino. Unless you drive to the back of the casino, which isn't on the main road through the town.

Guys, that garage is already there! They might add a few levels to the top of the existing one, but it's definitely already there!

You have pretty good views of Black Hawk from the top parking level too.

I never really checked out this thread. GOOD...GOD! I can't believe the tallest building between Denver and Salt Lake City is going here, of all places. Where the F**K is there room for a tower like this up there? Those canyons are so narrow. I want a pic.

Also, has anyone thought about how this building may be as tall as the mountains around it? Eww. From the suite on the top floor you may be able to see Denver . jk.

That made me imagine a view like that! I doubt you could build high enough to see Denver from there. However, if they built a 500+ footer there - sometime in the future when Black Hawk is Las Vegas's major competitor - it sure would have some great mountain views! Makes me wonder why places like Aspen haven't built any residential towers in the 30 story range? You would think with the limited buildable land and high land values, it would be perfect for mid to high-rise construction!?!?

^ Snyder the only time an update happens is when one of us Forumers heads up to Black Hawk/Central City and remembers to bring the camera. LOL And with the Holidays coming up? I highly doubt any of us will be heading up that way? I could be wrong? Maybe in the Spring time we might have an update? That would be a nice time to have an update for this tower IMO...

I hope that this big boy fuels interest in the area and more highrise/skyscraper Casinos are developed in Black Hawk/ Central City... We could have a mini Vegas or Reno in our back yard!!! Now if they will just adjust the gaming laws in this State? And up the "anty" LOL So to speak! I want Roulette and Craps baby!!! Bring it... Craps is my game...

It wouldn't be a bad weekend drive. Someone will probably get us an update soon. I just wanted to remind people of the thread and the idea of going up there.

Maybe I'll head up there this weekend... I've always kind of liked the way Black Hawk and Central City look, especially the taller, more massive buildings right in the narrow canyon. Cheesy? Yes, of course. Very interesting in terms of architecture and especially engineering? You betcha!

Ameristar Hotel South Elevator Core

This is the South elevator core of the Ameristar Hotel. It is topped out at 34 stories. Another core will be erected on the opposite end of the site and the 2nd tower crane will mount to it.

Nice so it is moving along, kinda slow but indeed moving along, both of those photos are great BTW however they do not seem to represent a full 34 Storys IMHO Sorry.

But this is definitely very cool! I hope the gaming laws change in the near future so Denver can have it's very own mini Vegas in our back yard!!!
