Great weekend to be a Winnipeg sports fan.

Bombers win their playoff game.
Jets win twice, both in decisive fashion
Manitoba Moose win in decisive fashion.

The score in the West Semi-Final flattered the Riders. Winnipeg dominated on both sides of the ball with the Riders only coming out on top with special teams.

Will the Ticats roll on the wave of their big win or will the RedBlacks continue their dominance over the Ticats?

It depends on whether Trevor Harris has time to throw. This will be a career defining game for him.

The lines will determine who wins especially in cold weather.

I will be at the game on Sunday, in my red and black.

Go RedBlacks!

I'm hoping for an old-fashioned Winnipeg-Hamilton Grey Cup, with the usual result.

Every Bomber fan in this country would love for the 28 year old drought to end, but I swear someone put a curse on the team in 1990

It felt the same way leading up to 1984. Since the early Bud Grant era, there has been just the one 7 year long stretch of 1984-90 where they were winning Grey Cups.

That and one of those fragile sensitive types...which is maybe why that guy was freaking out about it. He was a little on the sensitive side. lol.

Well they do nickname the Banjo Bowl after the Rider fans that come to town for the game. Just sayin.

Anywho..as far as the games on Sunday. I'm picking the Ticats and Bombers. I'm not particularly routing for any team, but as an unbiased observer, I would bet money on those two as they have the hot hand, and probably put money on the Bombers to win it all. 6 weeks ago I would have put money on Calgary, but they can't seem to get out of their own way right now.

I take that back, CFL fan base is probably three generations behind, thankfully teams like Stampeders organization have had Pride nights to show their support for the LGBTQ fans, this should help coddle some knuckle-dragging homophobes along.

I know a lot of the discussion on this thread about what constitutes a homophobic slur is under the protected guise behind a keyboard, but I'll bet if anyone on this thread were in a large American city they wouldn't dare breathe the n* word & if they were in a pub in the UK they wouldn't dare call someone pansy...

and for those that still think calling someone pansy couldn't possibly be considered offensive directed to a specific community...

Naah, I think you'll find a bit of machismo, homophobia and sexism basically anywhere there are professional male team sport fan bases.

The CFL is by no means unique. (I also don't think a few comments on SSP Canada can be said to be representative of the entire CFL fan base.)

Congratulations Winnipeg and Hamilton. Going to be an interesting weekend next week for the games.

The Riders looked every bit as terrible as they were this year. I wouldn't expect any of the quarterbacks on the roster to be back.

Fewest sacks given up, but second fewest passing yards with only Montreal having about 100 less yards and fewest passing TDs.

Anyone know the record for fewest passing TDs by a team in a season? Hamilton had 12 in 2006, Saskatchewan had 11 this year. Even Montreal had 14, despite giving up 39 more sacks than Saskatchewan. 66 sacks against for Montreal this year which might also be a record.

Hamilton finally made an official presentation to host the 2020 Grey Cup. If it is at all, any kind of a resemblance of a solid plan they will be awarded the big game.

If we can keep this thread on topic that would be great. Enough talk about connotations.

Edmonton is going to host one hell of a Grey Cup/Festival. The festival component is 3x + the size of our 2010 version

700' zipline from 60' above Jasper Avenue down into the river valley
140' tube slides
140' ski experience
Bungee jump experience
Giant 'mini-field'
Family zone
Sport gaming zone
Along with a whole bunch of sponsor activations
...team/sponsor hospitality parties/rooms

If anyone is coming, please feel free to reach out, as I will be on or near the festival site and would be happy to grab a welcome to our Downtown beverage.

The set-up and entertainment selections for Grey CUp week in Edmonton are impressive. This looks like a step-up from previous years, maybe even surpassing the 100th Grey Cup week celebrations in 2012.

Wish I could go.
