OK I saw the Virgin Hotel was on the city council docket last Thursday. Does anyone know if it was voted on? I couldn't find the minutes of the meeting and didn't feel like watching the video. Reason I ask is because a new construction permit was filed for 550 Baronne last week as well. So would seem to indicate they were confident of getting approved.

Thanks I know it was first reading so didn't expect it to be voted on right away.Nonetheless, thought it interesting that they applied for a permit for new construction already.

BTW probably couldnt hurt for people to send letter of support to Cantrell if they have a minute.

Updated Imagery

Want to know the status of a project from the air? This website updated their aerial imagery to today, literally.

http://www.terraserver.com/view.asp?...mpp=1&sdrt=jax

Things to note:
1. Weird to see cars in the parking lots at the new UMC Hospital.
2. SMD's The Beacon looks pretty good from the air.
3. Magnolia Marketplace looks tight.
4. Senior's building at Faubourg Lafitte has come a long way.
5. Iberville Projects coming along.

They sell aerial images, so you have to deal with their logo everywhere, but at least they update the images very often and post them even on the same day.

Not sure of the status of this project, but I stumbled upon this rendering of the Moxy Hotel at 744 St. Charles:

It's good to see that a grocery is still part of the Jung project. That will be good for the area. I've got my fingers crossed for Trader Joe's.
I'm intrigued by the 365 Canal permit, as well. So much to watch right now, but, with this location, I'm going to be looking to see what comes out of this permit...that is one serious location.

It was my understanding that they planned to build hotels at both locations. I remembered there being some opposition to the St. Charles location, however it's nice to see it moving forward.

Small update: demolition on the former Home Depot on Carrollton is now moving forward

Yes, They are building two Moxys in the New Orleans market. I'm not sure if you remember the original press release from Moxy about coming to the U.S. But they mentioned two in Nola and Nyc markets.

Btw whoever did the rendering of that Moxy did a first class job. That's one of the better ones that I have seen!

The T-P has some more details posted in a series of articles about the proposals to redevelop the old Charity Campus. Right now, I like the HRI proposal best as it sets aside a large amount of space for medical research companies.

Matthews Southwest Proposal

HRI Proposal

CHR Partners Proposal

Glad to see that the Canal Blvd. transit center is moving forward. That has been needed for a long time.

HRI and CHR both look pretty solid. HRI has a strong track record in the area, so I'm sure they would do a good job. Of course selling the building outright might not be a bad idea. Perhaps there could be an arrangement to ensure that the sale only goes through once the development proceeds? It would be a nice boost to the city's property tax rolls as well as the state budget. It looks like the Matthews group want to be paid to develop the property - pretty unbelievable!

Congrats on breaking ground, Tennis! Probably the first single family home to be built within 5 blocks in any direction of that location in the last 50 years. Don't know if that means you're crazy or a visionary! =)

I dont know if im crazy or not either lol That said the zoning in the area doesnt allow for single or two family homes (this is the new CZO). So I guess i will forever be the only one.
