Went back DT today to snap some more pictures. The first few are of the parts of Bricktown that I didn't get, and then I make my way over to the CBD. *note* it was dreadfully hot today, so when it comes to the first few BT pictures, thats why there are barely people about.
Bricktown
The CBD
The grittier, ugly side of downtown
Art District
I didnt get as much of the CBD as I wanted. I'll be heading back down in a few days to get more.
The new signage for the Underground entrances looks so cool. The new Legacy Apartments, however, look extremely drab... But at least they have added residents and retail space to the Arts District.
agreed. I find the Legacy Apartments ugly and bland. If they actually looked like those sketches, then they would have been decent. But, we were jipped. =/

Legacy isn't that bad and is one of the few affordable new places to live downtown, and they have streetfront retail along Walker. The Centennial in Bricktown is, IMO, much worse from a design standpoint. Good pics, today would've been a better day to get out because it's a little cooler but still really humid. The storms took out a lot of that haze/smog.
Excellent thread. The last time I was in OKC was the summer after the bombing. My friends and I arrived downtown about two in the morning and spent about two hours reading all the letters that came from all over the world that were posted on the fence surrounding the federal building. It was quiet, eerie, and very moving.
We end up staying in Bricktown, which then was a fairly new and incomplete project. It's nice to see how it turned out. When I was there their version of the river walk was barely a canal, but I hear that now it's pretty damned nice.
Its the historic Skirvin Hotel. It sat empty for about twenty years and was recently completely restored in 2006. Its beautifully immaculate inside and out. I believe Its owned by the Hilton Brand seeing as its called the Skirvin Hilton. It was just ranked Hilton's 13th nicest hotel in the Western Hemisphere.
