Hmm, a little bland, but not too shabby at all! This is the one by that Charlotte developer on the Music Row roundabout that was previously 14 stories, right? They really wasted no time with this one! I think I recall hearing that there was already construction equipment on site!

That design doesn't look bad at all. Hopefully they will go with brick/ glass/ concrete and leave out the stucco on the facade. The massing and scale all looks pretty good too, especially from this view:

The use of different materials on the facade might suggest that there's two or three levels of retail or commercial space, unless that use of different materials is just for looks.

178.5 ft at the roundabout elevation. The east side will be close to 200.

I would say this project is going to happen and sooner rather than later. From a rumor a few weeks ago to a sketchy newspaper article about a possible 14 story building a couple of weeks ago, this one has exploded on the scene from out of nowhere. Seems like the developers have their 'ducks in a row' and have already gotten approvals and basic engineering and design work done.

With no drama.

Thanks for the great roundup, MidTenn1. Happy times for us to have so many big projects underway. Not all cities are so fortunate!

That new Roundabout Apartments is a great addition to midtown, and I dig the rendering they've released. Maybe it's not super-innovative, but it's a solidly appealing design and if finished in the right materials ought to look great. And wow, did this project ever come out of nowhere. Hopefully more things are lurking just out of sight, too...

I'll add that, in my view, the Roundabout looks a ton better than the Buckingham which, as someone pointed out, looks like a ski resort -- and that perfectly captures why I don't like it (i.e. the Buckingham). It doesn't look like urban architecture at all, and IMO doesn't "fit" with the overall feel that midtown is developing. Still, it's good for the neighborhood and the economy either way, so I'll try to refrain from bitching about it too much.

Anyway, great stuff all around. The next 12 months or so will be very exciting.

Thanks for the rundown MidTenn! Crazy to think that that list is so impressive and yet is leaving out some projects and doesn't even include all the loads of smaller projects that are going on all around the city (not that it should...just saying, wow!)

Thanks for the update MT1! The more information and discussion that comes up from the roundabout tower, the sooner I think it will break ground. I also think Tony G will break ground on the SoBro pretty soon.

I'm surprised that we haven't heard more about thr Hyatt Regency or Tony G's Marriott, especially since there are TIF funds involved (on both of just the Hyatt?).

I hate to continue to sound negative, but I think WES is still a bust. I think Tony G's 41 floor tower in SoBro is for HCA...didn't he have a proposal tower for them way back in the day before Pinnacle was proposed for the 505 lot?

Speaking of Giaratanna's 41 story proposal...here she is:

Not bad eh? I have to agree with Mirydi that it's for HCA. That isn't based on anything other than pure speculation, I admit, but nothing else really makes sense. So in my opinion, we will either see this OR West End Summitt, not both. But what the hell do I know? lol

EDIT: Okay, I'm an idiot...I have no idea why that image isn't showing up. Help, anyone?

That looks flipping awesome. If we get this instead of WES I'll consider that a more than fair trade.
