So tonight is the last time we'll see these LA2024 colors?

Drove by this last night on the way home from the Dodger game and the lighting scheme is spectacular in person. Visually this went from another building in the skyline to the centerpiece. Even the people in my car, who are not skyscraper ubergeeks like the rest of us (and be honest with yourself, you are), audibly let out some gasps.

Well...between you and Brandon...im feeling a bit maligned...but whatever. This is where I got the info...it was stated by SLJR...a great guy whom worked on the tower. This is the page in the thread where it was stated.
Take from it what you will.

My mistake was assuming the cleaning mechinism was being interfered with. That wasnt stated. But it does look like those floodlights are all were getting. Again...I HOPE they update and give a more proper lighting

Sorry didn't mean to malign ;-) I just really don't believe they would go through the effort of including a spire and then not bother lighting it. It would seem like the most idiotic design EVER. And on top of that, simply lighting one random section of a 200 ft spire seems like such a bad joke that I just don't believe it. I would be willing to bet that by the time the building officially opens (in June?) they will find a way to light the spire.....

Yeah, it would be a huge buzzkill if they leave it that way. This stuff should've been figured out long ago.

My guess is they have to save at least one element for the grand opening. The spire will be lighted on opening day I'm sure. Also there seems to be elements on the face of the building that may be an additional LED source. Does anyone know about that?

Exactly what I was thinking. It wouldn't make sense for the spire not to be lit considering all the other lighting in place.

Great shots, steveve! We rarely see shots of the base here, which is coming along nicely. Those palm trees are looking a little worse for wear, though.

Holy God! I'm very impressed with how this tower looks at night time all lit up. The lighting really upgrades the tower big time it appears and is now making it one of my favorite towers, but the only problem is that it's only dark for a portion of the day. Too bad for this tower it can't be dark 24 hours a day. What do others think? Does the tower take a huge step back in terms of impressiveness when the lights come off or is it equally good day and night?

Love the light display on LA's Queen, with the King in the foreground standing tall.
