Well we got 29 days to determine if and when it will break ground this month. But with the current demand for hotels in Austin, most likely we will see this start very soon. Just keep us updated Hill Country.

Spaceman will be lurking just so he can say "I told you so" if nothing is started by the 31st.

I wouldn't doubt it, but if needed I can offer my services to host the official ground breaking. I just need a shovel & a pick axe.

We could get a few overdressed people wearing crooked hard hats together who obviously don't know how to operate a shovel and "snap"; there's your official ground breaking photo!

I spoke to someone associated with this project last week. It's still supposed to break ground in January. I saw a few new renderings of it too. Slight changes but it looks great. It's still going to have a 100' spire. As I recall, it'll have 46 occupied floors plus the crown that'll bring it to around 50. The crown will be lit.

A lit crown will be awesome. We need more cool light elements. A serious spire will also be a nice addition to the skyline.

Yeah I have a childish giddiness about that spire. That's something no buildings have in Austin. It would really make it stand out. I'd love to see those new renderings.

The 360 condos has a 91 foot spire.

I took a couple pictures of them with my phone. If someone wants to remind how to post pictures I'll post them.

You can upload them to a free image host such as http://imgur.com/

Then after you've uploaded them click on each photo. It'll pop up a little screen with some options for posting. Choose the BBCode (message boards & forums) option. It's the one with the [IMG] tags. Just copy it from that window and paste it into your post on the forum.

Thanks for posting those. It does look a little different, but not much. I shrunk one of the photos:

I like this a lot as well, but I think I might prefer the original version.

The new one has more square corners, so it comes down to rounded vs. squared. But the crown will be lit and it's still on track which is great news.

This looks awesome! It's more square from one angle, and has more rounded lines from another. I like the glass too.
