MIAMI | Sonesta Mikado Hotel & Residences | 35 Stories

*This project has been on hold since June 2009 & financing has already been secured for this project.

35-story Sonesta Mikado expects OK to build soon
By Yudislaidy Fernandez

Florida East Coast Realty, headed by Tibor Hollo, is hoping to get its construction permit from the City of Miami by month's end to begin building the 35-story Sonesta Mikado Hotel & Residences in the Omni area.
Construction of the hotel, residences and office space is estimated to cost north of $78 million, said Jerome Hollo, Florida East Coast Realty vice president.
"We are in the final reviews on the permit side," he said. "We are hoping by the end of this month to have a construction permit and could get started shortly after. That's our hope."
With financing secured for the project, slated for an empty site at 1701 NE Fourth Ave., this could be the first high-rise development to start in the Omni area this year.
The only other project soon to rise in the neighborhood is a Publix supermarket at 1776 Biscayne Blvd.

I absolutely love Miami but so many of its proposals suck.

To me, the balconies are what it so unattractive. The podium is just...not attractive.

I love how the renderings make it look like its in the middle of nowhere when in reality it will physically touch the 50+ story building next door and be separated by a thin alley from 3 more 40 to 55 story buildings.

Its going on the site with the trailers to the left of the nearest building:

Wink

They probably stuck it in the middle of nowhere so the building wouldn't blend in with the rest of the "scenery"

Couldn't disagree more. It's an awesome building... hope it gets completed!

Like the base - looks very technical. The rest of the tower is just generic condo. Overall, it's not a project I'll be holding my breath to see.

I have a few things for you guys. What is exactly happened the Omni hotel will be demolitions or renovated it? I wasn't sure about this one. Because Omni hotel is getting sort of old and there is no renovations for a long time. My last time that we went inside at shopping center back in years of 1989. I remember where we went to the movies.
