That’s because laymen have terrible taste. MetLife isn’t going anywhere, it’s landmarked, as it should be

i think seeing this massive glass tower go up in front of met life will open some people's eyes to the stark beauty of the building

from those pics it looks like it's taller than it's classic era neighbors one grand central and chanin now, yes?

anyone know or can guess -- what's the next direct neighbor building it will surpass and when?

Metlife reminds me of some dystopian city. It's a very oppressive building.

I like the retro-futuristic aspect of it, but I can understand why people hate it too!

I think the fact that MetLife was built right on top of Grand Central and it straddles Park Avenue makes it a favorite punching bag for many. It's a brute of a building and unabashedly big. Can't wait to see One Vanderbilt standing right next to it.
