Buffalo often gets a bad rap, as many people from the Toronto area only know about the outlet malls, Walden Galleria Mall, and the airport. The expressways from the border to the airport and malls goes through the very troubled east side, and many people who do venture into downtown Buffalo only see the pedestrian mall and consider the city dead and vacant.
Well for people who venture around the city, there is a whole other side of Buffalo that not many know exists.
These pictures were not the best as it was kinda rainy and we were dropping someone off at the airport, so I basically just got pictures from the car. But I wanted to post them to show the nice side of Buffalo.
Please not that this is a very quick look at the nice sections and there is way more than just the little you see in these photos.
Basically the entire North Buffalo area from just north of downtown to the city limits is very stable middle class and rich neighbourhoods that never really declined. The area today still contains some of the richest areas in the metro region, and is very well kept. The area is very walkable and the Elmwood Strip along Elmwood Ave is basically the centre of Buffalo's restaurant and funking shopping scene. So enjoy this very quick look.

Downtown Buffalo at night. Yes all is not dead. Chippawa Street even on a weeknight has some life going on with the clubs and restaurants.
thanks for sharing the pics of my former hometown. I agree that not all Buffalo is decrepit and dead, a portion of the north side and some parts of downtown still maintain a semblance of a city. I went back there last summer after an absence of 10 years, it's still depressing.
