I shot in Houston for years and you've got a lot of looks I never got. Never did go up on the HCC garage. Solid work.

This and other public spaces (like Discovery Green) downtown are where you have to be to see any large congregations of people.

Every thread I ever posted from Houston here got the same comments. Houston is not generally a street-life town. There isn't the infrastructure or the amenities that cater to that. Moreover, you've got the tunnel system downtown that many of the worker use. If not to hide from the weather, then to avoid the panhandlers.

i personally prefer the way the south looks (or more accurately feels) in the winter. the skies are blue, and the splashes of evergreen here and there. it looks placid, and a respite from the humidity and bugs. a calm, mild winter afternoon under perfect azure skies and a gentle low winter sun are the best.

these photos capture that wonderful feeling.

The jogging and cycling routes along Allen Parkway and Memorial Dr. (and other routes) can also be quite crowded.

Right. That's Buffalo Bayou Park. That, Hermann, Eleanor Tinsley, White Oak Park etc. you'll see them. I'm talking about on the streets though.

Nice thread. You caught it right before the second big boom in Midtown. There are cranes everywhere now for new apartments, theaters, art spaces, and more. It's going to be a totally different place in 2 years.

I LOVE the new Hermann Park. I live 6 blocks away and visit it daily. The new Centennial Gardens are amazeballs.

it will be great when they fill in the entire light rail line from downtown to the medical center with midrises.
