I wasn't sure about this one at first... it was almost too 1980s Brickell for me... but it's growing on me. Anyone know the occupancy?

^ A little dated but they seem to be doing better than expected

Almost two months after Miami's newest signature office towers, 1450 Brickell and Wells Fargo Center, added new tenants to their rosters, leasing agents continue negotiations with prospective tenants and those signed are starting to move in.
The 582,817-square-foot 1450 Brickell is about 52% occupied, with 304,000 square feet of office space filled, and the 750,000-square-foot Wells Fargo Center is right behind with about 40% full.

I never got that impression from it, and I've lived here since the 80s. I find it to be one of the better new additions to the skyline. From behind, it does look pretty ugly, but from certain other angles, to me it looks like a mountain.

Actually I'm pretty sure he's asking about Fisher Island, only accessible by ferry, and home to super wealthy. It was once home to the Vanderbilts.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fisher_Island,_Florida

Brickell Key is in the foreground and home to the only moderately wealthy.

^ yeah, it sounds like he's asking about Fisher Island. The last bastion of anglo-whites in Miami . I went there once for a party... was kinda disappointed... not that it wasn't nice... just thought the buildings would have been a lot nicer... a bit dated if you ask me... just didn't seem like the wealthiest place in the US.

Oh, I get it now! No, never found Fischer Island to be all that impressive either.

I think it could be such a cool venue for Miami again and don't quite understand why nothing has been done for almost 20 years now.
Take a look at the Virginia Key Master Plan
http://www.miamigov.com/Planning/pag...plans/VKey.asp

There's talk about renovating it:
http://www.miamigov.com/Planning/pag...July222010.pdf
Go to around page 52. it has a hypothetical opening night of Dec. 2012.

They need to also build a Huge LED Screen in that Miami Marine Stadium as well.

After 12 years, Miami Circle opens to the public as a park
http://www.miamiherald.com/2011/02/2...k=omni_popular

Quote:
Miami’s newest and perhaps most meaningful public park, inaugurated Wednesday on a radiant morning at the mouth of the river that gave birth to the city, is also its oldest: about 2,000 years old, give or take a couple of centuries.

A dozen years after taxpayers shelled out $27 million to save it from the bulldozers, the ancient site of the mysterious Miami Circle — where Miami’s first settlers, the Tequesta tribe, are believed to have engaged in reverential ceremony — was finally opened to its newest owners.

^ So the Miami Circle park is finally open! I remember when they first discovered the Miami Circle in 1998 but I didn't think it would take 12 years to turn it into a historic site though! Thanks for the link.

I do appreciate that they preserved the ancient artifact and opened this prime location up to the public. But does anyone else think that more could have been done to actually reveal the ancient stone structure rather than covering it up? I understand this was done so to preserve it from the elements and eventual deterioration -- perhaps there were other more visible ways of doing so?

There's actually still tons of construction going on in Miami, it's just all in 5-20 story buildings like this one that's way off the beaten path on the west side of Little Havana or so.
^ betchya no one knew about that one

I don't know if I go back I'll look at the address or the intersection, but there are at least 10 buildings around Miami that are that size or bigger than are around that point in their construction, construction which is active. One example is the new Hampton Inn right in downtown. Some are a lot bigger than this one.

Here's a picture of the new MDC building right in Downtown.

It's right on top of the McDonald's next door.

That last building has been like that for the longest. I think it is on hold. It is like Brickell financial center. They work everyone in a while but no major activities. At least that I am aware off.
