Just wanted to check (and apologies if this has already been covered), but the diagonal steel will have cladding installed, correct?

Uh oh...

By all accounts, yes. But it's not 100% clear and has been the source of vociferous debate. Check back in a couple months.

This seems to be a good vantage point:

Also just a side note. My friend who works for Comcast mentioned that the employees get construction updates.
He mentioned that the core is up to the 50th floor.
I said to him, "you have been withholding valuable information?"

Comcast Innovation & Technology Center

Photos I took this evening @ an elevation of about ~600'-0" above street level. Enjoy! (FMC Tower construction in background)

A little over 100 ft to go to complete the hotel portion, then about 95 ft for the cooling tower and approx. 121ft for the lighting element. This thing will be topped out before the DNC convention.

Speculation or fact? Doesn't that seem a little aggressive?

Given that the latest photos show the core around 800ft. The additional numbers I provided bring it up to 1121ft. The advertised height of this project.

There must be a misunderstanding here. Probably the core will reach its top by the convention since it appears to be around floor 54 with 4-6 core floors to get to core's top, but it looks like the steel won't be topped out until the fall.

Agreed. Given the lag in the steel portion, there's not way this is topped off by summer's end. It's probably fair to assume that the core will be finished, however.

To clarify, and correct me if I'm wrong-the "concrete" core will be topped out at approx. 995'6"ft above street level. The lighting element will start here and extend another 126 ft upward. I wasn't referring to the steel structure wrapped around the core being topped out before the DNC convention and thought I shouldn't point out the obvious, especially for those that have followed this regularly.

995'6 was originally spec'd as the top of the cooling tower. It doesn't look like the core will be a part of that. Currently it looks like the core will end below the top of the hotel atrium/lobby (less than 911'). We're unsure as to whether the core makes it as far as the first floor of the atrium section. Based on the original drawing it didn't look like the core went to the top of the hotel atrium ceiling.

ok, thanks. I was going off the original specs.

If I read the plans correctly, the core will stop immediately below the two or three story sky lobby for the Four Seasons. The "finial" (i.e., the lighting element to which you refer) will not be an extension of the core (which rises pretty much at the center of the structure), but will be part of the steel structure on the western side. Until the steel is high enough, the roof of the sky lobby, the cooling tower, and the finial won't be completed, so there can't be a "top off" no matter how you slice it.
