the exposed truss-work is nice.
the clunky hollow finials up top are unresolved . . .
like cheap pier-one candle lanterns . . .
thin-outlined house-shapes . .
unattractively wrapped with thick bands of metal . .
KPF's "900 N. Michigan" did crown corner-lanterns much better.
Red brick somewhere would've been cool on this one.
Construction Update: The Beekman, Financial District
Quote:
The new building, known as The Beekman, will eventually hold 68 one- to three-bedroom condos. Apartments will start at $1,200,000 and feature interiors designed by Thomas Juul-Hansen.
The development rivals nearby 30 Park Place for the area’s priciest new residential project, but 30 Park ultimately reigns as the tallest and most expensive in the neighborhood. The Beekman’s penthouse hit the market in February asking $4,300 per square foot, and the choicest unit at Robert A.M. Stern’s limestone megalith wants close to $5,000 per square foot.
I think there going to paint it black or a blackish grey. Should mask the bare concrete and make it aesthetically pleasing. If the renderings are something trust.
Same thing with the upper concrete row. Painted black/dark-grey.
Took a screenshot from a live feed on the parade. Can see the tower on the right. I was 2 seconds too late hitting the screenshot button, but, its something.
“Office buildings are our factories – whether for tech, creative or traditional industries we must continue to grow our modern factories to create new jobs,” said United States Senator Chuck Schumer.
Love the dark glass on this, its probably my favorite part of the design. And there is no way they're gonna leave the concrete as is, it looks nothing like the renderings.
I'm referring to the building walls left blank by virtue of their abutting the properties edge, not concrete parking lots. That said, bring on the self-driving cars!
