It was never an issue. It was just a journalist making a bigger deal out of something than it was.

Spoke with a person heading into the building this afternoon. She said they're still pulling furniture out this week and that demo will begin before month-end.

Can't wait to see the pit with steel holding back the river, much like wolf point east on this one!

I've mentioned this before; the architecture tours will be a real treat this summer with all the action at Vista, Wolf Point East, 110 and even the Post Office.

Any project that requires federal government involvement or funding typically has what is called a Section 106 review process when historic or potentially historic (or archeological) resources are involved. In this case it was determined that sufficient mitigation to this historical loss was to document the existing building and to save a certain number of stainless steel spandrel panels to be reinstalled somewhere public on the site of the new building (maybe as cladding for the new river wall).

I talked about this project all last summer on the tours.
