Smile NEW YORK | Grand East | ? FT | 28 FLOORS

Demolition has started on the junky two story structures in this formerly junky area. As the area has rebounded, hopefully the new tower, which will be a hotel, will be nice. It was designed by Flatiron Architects. I can't find a website for them.

Here's the NB permit:

No design has yet been released, but the architect is Flatiron Architects LLC. The submitted application calls for a new hotel on site, rising 263 feet (27 stories) and containing 288 rooms. The application also includes a small commercial component.
Permit was denied; challenge ongoing. Hopefully it rises soon.

Who needs a family restaurant when you have Mcdonald's, Wendy's and Sbarro all on the same corner? Maybe those establishments will call the new tower home.
