awesome shots. Great idea for a thread, and you're definitely the one who could pull it off

Great thread

Actually, off all the power plants, shown, its Lambton (the Canadian coal plant) that is scheduled to be shut down before 2014 to conform to the province's goal of phasing out all coal fired power. The balance will hopefully be made up by power from refurbished Bruce nukes and Quebec imports to Ontario along with imports from Michigan.

Maybe disgusting to look at but this is what supports the products people want and the lifestyles they want to live.

As an aside...these days, these industries are well controlled regarding emissions (a lot of people think the steam is smoke, though). Only a few decades ago the toxic pollution was horrible. Thanks to the EPA in the U.S. and Canada's similar agency, along with the efforts of states and provinces, things are tremendously improved.

^Edmonton's Refinery Row can't be that much behind Sarnia. Unlike Chemical Valley, Refinery Row is still growing.

Ironic, considering the coal burning plants in Michigan, right across the river from Lambton GS, are much dirtier, and all the pollution blows into Ontario.

As for all the chemical plants, although some have been dismantled, most of them will be with us for a long time because it's nearly impossible to get new ones built in populated areas
