I was there at about the same time and completely agree. Go stand across the street from the tower and look up--it's almost dizzying, much more like Chicago's Big John than LA's U.S. Bank Tower.

^^Very nice. A couple of these may become my "wallpaper" for a while. Were you visiting or are you local?

Amazing shots, streetscaper. Love IMG 9222 with the whitecaps in the foreground.

IMG 9222 is certainly a unique shot. Don't see too many of the city from beyond Treasure Island like that.

The only thing I can figure is they are waiting for the materials to be delivered. That would make sense.

^^Remember that this top portion is going to have 10,000 LED lights inside of it. It also will contain all the HVAC and other rooftop equipment. They may not be able to close it up until all that--or certain items--is in place.

question about the height.... Is it 1070 feet where someone would be standing (shoe level) at the top level or is it 1070 to the top of the edge of the panels that contain the LED lights?

This building has really cemented SF's position as the best skyline on the West Coast, and might even put it at #3 in the country.

Interesting point. NYC and Chicago easily #1 and #2, but what other city would you say is #3? IMO SF is clearly 3rd best in density, variety, and, as of now, height (I include bridges as part of skylines as well). But when you are competing with NYC and Chicago, that's a tough race. If I were to compare SF to *any* skyline in all of Europe, I'd say SF beats every one. If I were to compare it to any skyline in all of Asia, outside of China and Dubai, I'd say it is #1. If I were to compare the SF skyline to any city in North *and* South America, outside of the United States, again, I'd say it would be #1. IMO SF has one of the top 10 skylines in the world.

^ I agree on your #3, when Oceanwide is built it will further solify the number 3 spot-I count the bridges as well plus the surrounding scenery. As for 4-Miami (I'd say tied with LA) and then Minneapolis followed by Atlanta and maybe Dallas/Houston.

Oh btw I wonder what the final crane heights were? I know they were a SF record..
