Hopefully the new Aramark HQ fills in the center of this shot. While not particularly tall, it'll be wide, hopefully look good (!) and sort of fill a gap.

^ I was around 23rd and Market late yesterday. The Aramark addition does lend some real "presence" to the area.

we have too many wide buildings that want to be tall. the new aramark building will be one of these I think.

What are some other such buildings that are "wide and want to be tall?" None immediately spring to mind for me. I'm also happy there is no tall building in this spot to ruin views from Cira Green and University City. We will hopefully be seeing other tall buildings spring up on Market between the Murano and the river. Not to mention University City itself if all shakes out as hoped. We're doing fine...

I would also like to see 2400 Chestnut reskinned and converted to a luxury condo one day. And something tall to go up where Mandeville was planned. We'll see...

I think the Aramark building will look very European. Long, mid-rise, modern building along a river with a trail, juxtaposed by some cool older buildings. I personally think it'll look great.

One that springs to mind for me is Symphony House. Forgetting the Pepto pink color, and just thinking of the massing, I want to cut that building in half and then stack the two halves vertically.

I don't really grok...Symphony House is not a tall slender tower of the type we see in some other cities. But it is not a particularly wide building at all and is 350 feet and 31 stories.

It's been around since the 60s. I usually associate it with tech types. The eOED says Heinlein coined it in Stranger in a Strange Land.
