Wow, with workers at 150 N Riverside and 444 W Lake (as well as Wolf Point of course), things are ramping up for this to be an exciting summer for people who love construction like myself.

Unlike other disused riverfront lots, the trees here seem pretty vibrant. I wonder if they could be saved. The roots might be too garbled up with the artificial riverbank.

The trees have become one with the wall, they will share it's fate :-(

Saw a Clark Construction pick-up on the site the other day.

^ The only surface road leading to the site from the north goes through the River Point RR tunnel and under the River Point plaza. Sounds like a deal has been struck.

"Starting June 2nd, material and equipment deliveries will begin via barge and the surface road from the north, as well as commencement of riverwall reconstruction. All pedestrian and vehicular routes around the site, including at Randolph and Lake Streets, will remain open."

Of course, it's just ironic that O'Donnell can't bring materials to his site except to go through his arch-rival Hines' site... even if the tunnel is technically not Hines property.

Deal would be struck with RR. Sort of ironic. Hines gets tunnel built (albeit with TIF money) and RR gives access to O'Donnell, a competitor. lol!

Barge Waiting with First Major Mateiral Deliveries Next Week?

Just wanted to post this over here as well (just mentioned in River Point thread)......the barge photographed with caisson materials that's hanging out on the river by Merchandise Mart I assume is headed here for deliveries starting next week. Reilly's website mentioned equipment and material deliveries by barge and access road starting June 2.....

In the same report on Reilly's web site, he mentions caisson work this week at the Riverwalk build-out. The barge is still across from the MM. Zero activity at 150 when I walked by this morning. Could be either place.

Barge was just pushed to the riverwalk site between Dearborn and Clark.

After a brief delay, barge deliveries will apparently begin around this Wednesday.
And then excavation and riverwall work to start next week....

There's a Thatcher crane on a barge along the site. Looks like riverwall work to begin soon.

Was just about to ask if this was for that :-) with the side rafts deployed it sure looks like it.

I still find it odd that Wolf Point hasn't worked on the riverwall yet.

Aren't they leaving the river edge alone? The river walk is cantilevered over it. I think preservationists got them to not touch the riverwall.

If they don't touch it, it will be gone soon enough.
