While the old Forks Market was Granville Island-ish, the renovation, introduction of alcohol, more food options, and the removal of some of the more touristy vendors, has made it much more like Ponce City Market, and it's better for it.

And since someone else mentioned it, I find Byward (somehow I've had the fortune to visit all of these markets) kind of tacky. Again, very touristy. I'd take the current Forks over that, any day of the week.

I always hoped the old Eaton's/Scott-Bathgate warehouse might get turned into big loft condos with those glorious old windows, just in time for me to be in the market .

It's too big and landmarky from that imo. It'd be a perfect public space.

Another big fire in the neighbourhood and likely another pile of rubble to sit for years.

One eyesore gone, another takes its place.

Hopefully it gets cleared and one day something substantial can be built there.

What was that building? I see on street view the back fenced area had a giant stack of old MTS phone booths. Metal scrapyard?

We were driving thru that area on Saturday morning and the fog/smoke mix was pretty intense around there.

The smoke smelled a bit like creosote, so I imagine whatever was burning had a decent amount of chemicals.

On the bright side maybe in 25 years after being a never-used parking lot it'll be developed into something!

Argyle High School

I understand Argyle High School has relocated after 50 years. I attended this school a very very long time ago…

Is there any definitive plans for this building and land by the school board?

Thanks

False alarm…

Read this on numbertenarchiture Instagram

They were working on a amalgamated school project in Saskatchewan by the same name…

Walked by 127 Bannatyne yesterday. Cool to see how 137 Bannatyne on the western side of the development leans east such that they have what appears to be a tapering shim of cinder blocks to fill the gap. I'm sure someone on here knows a more technical term for it.

What was previously spelled out on 137 Bannatyne with the remaining letters CH A?

Cool project, I've enjoyed watching it go up. Now if only something could spring up on the parking lot across the street!

if they fill that lot across the street they need to build parking to make up for the loss and add some may sound stupid but we need to take that into account or we screw the buisnes's and residents we need a balance

The owner of Saints will be opening a coffee shop and art/event space in the ground level of the pumphouse phase two.
