Muscatine (the only US city with that name)

About 30 miles west of the Quad City area is Muscatine, Iowa. (And before I catch hell from anyone, I know there's a section of Salt Lake City named Muscatine Park.)
The city is on the Mississippi River where the river takes a big left turn back southward. It's population is about 23,000 with a Micropolitan pop of about 54,000. It is the county seat of Muscatine County. It seems rather blue collar, and still in decent shape, though there was some flooding along the river while I was there.

Here's a short visit:

And across the street is the old Hotel Muscatine. It was renovated about 5 years ago (not all locals were happy with the results) and made into condos (which sold back then for about $250,000 to $400,000). There was a Pearl Martini bar (I didn't notice it) in the place, and a Thai restaurant.

Yes, enjoyed! Thanks for your pics, Ex-Ithacan.

Muscatine is a curious name for a nice town. I like it. Those iron bikes on the street are very original.

Congrats and greetings from Madrid, Spain!

Nice!
Spent a bit of my younger years in Muscatine. Would frequent some of their live music venues back in the early 80s. We also would drive down there just to eat at a certain
wonderful Chinese restaurant who's name escapes me at the moment.

I'm all for merging new with old in certain contexts, but (at least from the photo) this one looks misplaced and ill-conceived. Interesting city - thanks for sharing.

The wife of one of my closest friends is from Muscatine. I've never been there myself, but I have seen a few pictures. Now, I've seen more than a few, thanks to your thread!! Thanks!!
