Ugh. I hate drive-thru ATMs. I hate all drive-thrus in general but ATMs are about the worst.

Yeah, that's going to be problematic.

Noticed this afternoon that there is construction going on inside the former Target at Place d'Orleans. No indication of what is going on though...

Sunrise Records will be taking over the former(current?) HMV location; this seems to be the only Ottawa-based HMV location getting rebranded:

Quote:
Ontario

■Quinte Mall – Belleville.
■Stone Road Mall – Guelph.
■Limeridge Mall – Hamilton.
■Square One – Mississauga.
Place d'Orléans – Ottawa.
■Heritage Place Mall – Owen Sound.
■Pickering Town Centre – Pickering.
■Station Mall – Sault Ste. Marie.
■The Pen Centre – St. Catharines.
There will, however, be another rebrand at the Galerie de Hull, bringing the number of Sunrise Records stores in the Ottawa-Gatineau region to 3 (Carlingwood Mall already has a location in operation):

Quebec

Les Galeries de Hull – Hull.
■Place Fleur de Lys – Quebec City.
■Promenades St-Bruno – Saint Bruno.
■Place du Royaume – Saguenay.
■Centre commercial Les Rivières – Trois-Rivieres.
■La Grande place des Bois-Francs – Victoriaville.

More Sunrise Records locations to be announced on March 20, so this was only the first wave.

I originally though they were just gutting it in anticipation for a new tenant, but it looks like it is being plain demolished.

Wow, demolishing the former Target? That's pretty wild..it means they see no possibility for a new tenant of that magnitude in the future. That speaks a lot about the shift of retail from that area to Innes. How long until we see some grand proposal for that site for 5 towers of 25-35 stories like every other plot of land next to future light rail?

Unless plans have changed since two months ago, Marks warehouse and some French retailer are going to be tenants in that same block where Target once stood. Seems to be an extreme demo just to rebuild for a couple of retailers that are in no way on the incline.

It's the largest clothing chain in Canada, so probably a lot of people.

I don't. I am able to see a chart with the top 13 showing, when I click for the full data set I am told to get a subscription. For those who can't see the chart, the top 5 are:
Mark's 380
Reitmans 329
Le Chateau 211
Garage 182
La Vie en Rose 180

Marks may be one of the largest clothing retailers however, they have been closing stores across Canada. Three of these stores that I know of were in Ottawa.

They have a lot of store, except I never see anybody in them. They have a niche for "work clothes" like safety boots and outer work wear, I just don't see anybody buying "regular" clothes there... not sure if its a money-maker for Canadian Tire??

Given the state of retail these days... especially clothing. A lot of Mark's are co-located in Canadian Tire properties (either directly or on same parcel)

But I digress...

I'm a regular Marks customer, so this will make things somewhat easier in future.

Also noting that the Sunrise Records location at Place d'Orléans is now open for business, and the Coles location is being rebranded as "IndigoSpirit"...so that's another longtime Canadian brand being euthanised?

We definitely need to make sure there's still a bookstore in the Place.
