This looks like an Austin version of 1920s Art Deco. I like it.

Another new site plan was filed for this project on Wednesday. That makes, what four? I don't know what the difference is between this version and the previous one.

Storm sewer plan. This also shows the height as 187 feet 9 inches, a slight change from what we saw originally.

Twitter is a good source of construction photos. A lot of them, like this one, were probably taken by SSP members (or lurkers).

It appears the name of this place may have changed to 22 West.

EDIT: See thread for "22 West Residential".

This is going to take a while to rise, but the only reason why I would be impatient is because I like this building, especially if it holds true to the rendering and the color. It doesn't need to be that tall to be on my favorite list. Easily top 7 U/C.

It is hideous and I fully believe you'll be complaining about the poverty siding once it is finished.

God I hope its not poverty siding! Its hard to tell at this point. My idea of poverty siding is stucco. This doesn't appear to be stucco.

Even if this building ends up being "shave-its-butt-and-teach-it-to-walk- backwards ugly, it's in West Campus. Beer goggles will help.

Seriously, though, I think it'll be ok. The renderings seem to give it more sheen than what I'd expect from stucco. I always envision stucco as being covered in mold and bird poop and no one bothers to wash it because it won't really help it anyway. Most of all, I like the massing/form of this one. Facades can be redone, but structural changes are a bit more difficult and unlikely.

Holy stucco, that very well might be poverty siding. I got caught up in the design so I didn't notice. But even still, I think I'll still like this when its done. I'll think of it as an interesting looking person in cheap clothes.

Don't know about the siding, but I think the building looks like a hospital.

I've thought the same thing since we first saw the rendering.

How tall is this relative to others in the area? Will it just be infill or will it stick out quite a bit?

Kind of in-between, I think. Certainly it's taller than most buildings around there, but there have been more and more ~20 floor buildings being built around there. There's 21 Rio, Callaway House, and that third one near callaway house too. But, it should be easy enough to see.
