Swissboring leaving and still no mention of a main contractor. Piling must be done, or else some other reason why they are leaving.

Anyway, regardless of the reason I think this will go on hold for a very long time starting quite soon.
I said from the very beginning that I though this wouldn't get built because of money. Let's see now what happens.

Is the demand really there for this one given the economic situation?

^ Doubt it; but we should probably stay away from that topic if we don't wanna be scolded.

Do I post this stuff for nothing or what? A 500m building at a more advanced stage of construction than any other apart from burj dubai and no replies?
Fine, if all people want to talk about is their back yard.

Anyway here are the latest updates. They are excavating to reveal the pile caps but where the hell are the 250 piles? Also why are these revealed ones so irregularly placed???

They're all at the Trump, Waterview and Freedom Tower threads asking and answering the same ol' questions.

Anyways, I love your diagrams! They're some of the best Sketchup models I've ever seen and the best model of the Marina I've seen so far. Even better than the 'professional' renders.

What are you going to cry yourself to sleep now because you aren't getting as many responses as you hoped? Give me a break. Go cry to mommy.

I'm not crying, just point out most people are only interested in their back yard, that's all.

Everyday I'm more and more convinced that this project will soon be cancelled, exactly like the Burj al Alam

Amazing diagrams, thanks for posting. I don't reply much here because I don't think that this tower will happen with the economy.

Is there something wrong with that? I care less about Burj Dubai than I do about this 8 story apartment building going up down the street because I don't see Burj Dubai everyday.

Nope, there isn't anything wrong. I was just wondering if anybody, except maybe 2 or 3 people, actually look at the updates for towers not in their own cities or countries and maybe a few other towers. This thread proved that that's not the case since people replied to what I said. This then shows that many people look at them but don't post which still makes it worthwhile to repost updates here from SSC. In fact the reason I rarely post in US threads is because there's nothing that needs updating there but I still always check those threads to see the progress myself.

Anyway I guess I'm completely different in that I'm interested in anything but stuff going on (or rather was going on) in my city/country. Maybe if we got a supertall, or even a tower half the size I'd be interested.

Anyway back to the topic. Aedas, the architects, have a new website (rather crappy and very non-user friendly if you ask me) with some new renders of this tower and also damac heights which is not being built anymore.

I'm with you malec. I love to follow the updates on nearly all interesting supertalls around the world, especially those in Dubai. If I got the time I click on each thread and look at the photos which are usually amazing. It's just the case that I don't always want to spam these threads with stuff like "wow. amazing." I enjoy the buildings as they are but most of the time I don't have many questions.
Anyway, please keep doing all these updates.

I look at these threads often, I just don't comment on them a lot because it's in such an early stage of construction. But I appreciate the updates and the models.
